Hotel renewal sparks sustainable furniture sale in Cascais

The Onyria Quinta da Marinha Hotel in Cascais has launched an exclusive furniture sale through Second Serve, a digital platform specialising in pre-owned hotel furnishings. Although the hotel's closure is scheduled for the end of November, sales have already begun, with buyers able to view pieces online or by appointment at a showroom in Mafra.

Second Serve, founded in April 2025, is conducting its first major operation with this initiative. The platform aims to promote sustainability and circular economy principles by giving hotel furniture a second life. Founder Roberto Geallad stated that the platform turns a "logistical challenge into a sustainable, accessible and valuable opportunity for all stakeholders".

The hotel will undergo extensive renovations before reopening under the Kimpton brand at the start of 2026, marking what João Pinto Coelho, Chief Commercial Officer of the Onyria Group, called 'a new chapter' that naturally aligns with a 'gesture of sustainability'.

In the first phase, furniture from the hotel's 200 rooms will be sold, followed by items from common areas including restaurants and leisure spaces, reinforcing the partnership between Second Serve and the Onyria Group's commitment to responsible renovation.
