'The industry needs many new minds and hands in the years ahead. These are jobs that will contribute significantly to innovation and play a crucial role in the green transformation of society. Being able to assist thousands of industrial companies in securing good framework conditions is highly motivating and a significant challenge that I look forward to tackling,' says Harald Solberg.
Solberg has a robust career as a politician and leader in Norwegian organisational and business life. He has been a deputy member of the Parliament for Vestfold KrF, an adviser at the Prime Minister's Office, and a state secretary in the Ministry of Finance. After the change of government in 2005, Solberg served as the Deputy CEO of Mentor Media and later as the CEO of Dagsavisen. He joined the Shipowners' Association in 2011 as the Director of Business Policy and Communication, led the Royal Secretariat at the Royal Court from 2016 to 2017, before becoming the CEO of the Shipowners' Association in January 2018.
'Norsk Industri is very pleased to have found a highly qualified person to take over as CEO after Stein Lier-Hansen. The industry faces many challenges and needs a clear voice to promote good solutions. Harald Solberg is the right person to lead this effort, and as chairman, I look forward to collaborating with him,' says Ståle Kyllingstad, chairman of Norsk Industri.
Harald Solberg assumes the position after Stein Lier-Hansen, who stepped down in December after 17 years as the head of Norsk Industri.
