The French home decor chain, Maisons du Monde, is in need of some rejuvenation, as it grapples with a two-year decline in sales. In March, the newly appointed CEO, François-Melchior de Polignac, is set to unveil a comprehensive transformation plan to address the challenges facing the furniture and decoration retailer.

Experiencing a consecutive decline in revenue, Maisons du Monde faced a 5% decrease in sales in 2022, followed by a more substantial 9.3% drop in 2023, amounting to 1.1 billion euros. The domestic market in France contributed over half of this figure, standing at 623 million euros, according to LSA. In-store sales saw a decline of 7.4%, while online sales plummeted even further by 13.9%. Additionally, the chain concluded the year with eighteen fewer stores compared to the previous year, bringing the total down to 340. As the company endeavors to reverse this trend, the upcoming transformation plan aims to reshape Maisons du Monde for a more robust future.
