On February 10, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) achieved a remarkable feat by assembling the world's largest bed in Chillán, Chile. Measuring an impressive 32.7 by 19.5 meters, it surpassed the previous Guinness World Record set in the Netherlands in 2011.
This extraordinary endeavour, weighing nearly 14 tons, was made possible through collaborative efforts involving ADRA, the humanitarian wing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, alongside volunteers and private companies. Notably, 6,000 Pathfinders from the Chilean Union Pathfinder Camporee contributed to this initiative, rallying at the Chile Adventist University campus to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children and adolescents lacking proper bedding.
The record-setting bed featured a six-meter headboard, a 2.5-meter base, and an 18-meter pillow, weighing a total of 13,800 kilograms. The assembly process involved 148 scaffold structures, 380 metal planks, thousands of screws, and considerable manpower, totaling 680 expert work hours, 56 assembly volunteers, and various supplies including paint, duvets, sheets, and mattresses.
