Following the disruptions caused by the pandemic and the ensuing supply chain crises, design and furniture companies, along with the broader industry, embarked on a trend of streamlining their production chains. This shift saw a rising number of companies in the sector opting to integrate strategic segments of the value chain internally, often through acquisitions.
In this context, the significance of controlling the supply chain became paramount for maintaining competitiveness, particularly within the Italian furniture industry, which increasingly emphasises quality and value-added services. It is perhaps due to these imperatives that Koelnmesse, known for organising the Interzum biennial event in Cologne, Guangzhou, China, and Bogota, Colombia, has selected Italy—specifically Bergamo—as the location for a new spin-off of Interzum focused on subcontracting within the furniture industry.
Flooring, Stand: Heinrich Krüger + Sohn, , Bereich: Materials & Nature.
The inaugural Interzum Forum in Bergamo is scheduled for June 6th and 7th, aiming to host 200 exhibitors from around the globe across various sectors including Function & Components, Materials & Nature, Textile, and Machinery. This forum in Italy will alternate with the main Interzum event in Cologne during even-numbered years. Thomas Rosolia, CEO of Koelnmesse Italia, highlighted the timeliness of this project, catering to the current preferences of companies for focused, efficient events. With the exhibition area's two halls nearly at capacity, organisers anticipate reaching the target of 200 exhibitors.
