Aalto foldable table makes return

Originally designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1930s, the Aalto foldable table DL81C returns to the Artek collection. Crafted for compact living, the Aalto foldable table accommodates two or three people in compact kitchens or dining areas and extends effortlessly to welcome an extra guest through a simple sliding mechanism.

With all the virtues of an Aalto Table – universal, durable, versatile – it matches perfectly with a wide variety of chairs, making it ideal for dining, working, learning or playing.

Available in three standard surfaces, it serves every need: easy-to-clean hard-wearing laminate is ideal for dining, birch veneer radiates warmth, and linoleum provides a matt and soft finish.

To celebrate the launch, Artek is introducing three limited two-tone linoleum editions. Inspired by vintage foldable tables available at Artek 2nd Cycle, the two-tones echo the colour variation that occurs naturally over time. Since the drop leaf tends to be kept closed when not in use, it receives differing levels of exposure to light and contact. Consequently, it ages beautifully at a different rhythm to that of the tabletop. The three editions are clay/walnut, pistachio/olive and vapour/smokey blue.
