Established in 1972 as part of Gruppo Euromobil, the Italian brand Désirée has evolved into a premier manufacturer of upholstered furniture, offering a diverse range of sofas, armchairs, beds, and complementary pieces. With a global presence spanning America, Asia, and the Middle East, Désirée continues to captivate international markets with its commitment to craftsmanship and collaboration with renowned designers. In an interview with Luigi Lucchetta, Brand Manager of Désirée, we delve into the history and vision of the brand and their recent participation at Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Luigi Lucchetta, Brand Manager of Désirée.
Could you tell us about the history of the brand?
'Gruppo Euromobil was formed in 1972 with the birth of the Euromobil brand, dedicated to the production of modular kitchens. Then in 1974 Zalf, a company specialising in living and sleeping area systems, was created. 1995 is the year of the acquisition of Désirée, a brand manufacturer of upholstered furniture that completes the Group's wide range of offerings. Our desire is to focus on all aspects that touch people's lives, to offer our audience proposals that can vary and make their "living" as accessible as possible.
Désirée is a company specialising in the production of upholstered furniture: sofas, armchairs, chairs and beds, but also complements like coffee tables or rugs. Désirée over time has decided to take advantage of the expertise of internationally renowned designers such as Tobia Scarpa, Roberto Gobbo, Marc Sadler, Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, Setsu&Shinobu Ito and Jai Jalan.
Désirée is very active in international markets, thanks to its dense network of distributors and dealers around the world. Some of the most important markets are America, Asia and the Middle East.'

You were recently at Salone del Mobile in Milan. What did you think of the fair?
'We believe that Salone del Mobile in Milan is a fundamental theatre for us and for our brand, a place where we can showcase not only the hard work we devote ourselves to every day but also where we can exchange opinions, receive feedback from agents and customers, in short, a time of sharing that allows us to strengthen our ties and help ourselves to offer an increasingly complete product.'
What products were on show?
'The 2024 collection comprehends the work of the designers Marc Sadler, Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, Jai Jalan, and Setsu & Shinobu Ito. A living proposal that includes products made by artisanal processes in a fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces. We presented four different types of sofas, one of them suitable for covered or partially-covered outdoor spaces. There are also two coffee tables, one of which is for outdoor use, available in different shapes and materials, and finally a collection of rugs.'
What's in store for Désirée now?
'In this period, we are facing many challenges, which have led us to evolve not only from a production point of view but also in terms of corporate welfare. I would like to mention first of all, our desire to care more and more about sustainability and environmental issues, creating environmentally sustainable products. We would also like to maintain the level of high-quality design, thanks to our entirely made in Italy production, and focus on products suitable for both outdoor and indoor use, as the 2024 collection proves. Finally, we are looking more and more at the foreign market; for example, we plan to open a Flagship Store in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the near future.'
