'Combining technical innovation and aesthetic refinement'

Mara unveils four new designer collaborations

Four new collections involving collaborations with international designers were unveiled at the recent Milan Design Week, in a display installation designed by Ferruccio Laviani.

AMDL Circle, Christophe Pillet, Ferruccio Laviani, Marcello Ziliani are the authors of the design masterpieces, which narrate new ways of living for the office, and the home, through products that combine technical innovation and aesthetic refinement.

The display installation at the event by Ferruccio Laviani was named 'Transcendence: The Fusion of Living and Working Spaces': a concept telling the renewed identity of the brand, which is increasingly balanced between the office and the residential dimensions. Within a neutral setting inspired by contemporary eco-architectures, 'mini-environments' representing everyday contexts hosted the new collections. These co-existed alongside bestsellers, interacting thanks to a complementary stylistic language, although they were different creative designs.

The first new product is Typo, the unprecedented chair designed by Mara and AMDL CIRCLE, the studio founded by architect Michele De Lucchi. A product that reinterprets the traditional office chair on castors, and challenges Mara own design through the study of steel-profile bending techniques. Distinctive features are the deliberate and refined creases of the frame, created by bending the steel tube with a square section along the diagonal. For the Salone del Mobile, Typo was presented in a special Limited Edition, in collaboration with Alpi.

From the collaboration with Christophe Pillet comes the Foil table, featuring minimal thicknesses and discreet perimeter frames that redefine the archetype of contemporary metal tables. This is as much the case in the fixed version as it is in the model with a top integrated with Mara mechanisms that allow the top itself to easily move and reveal the storage space underneath.

Ferruccio Laviani designs the stand as well as the new bookcase Elle: a transversal, modular, modern architecture, a tribute to lightness. Its modular structure allows numerous compositions, accommodating spaces and needs. The stylistic feature, however, is contained in the 'L' element that gives shape to the shelves: by playing with the orientations, it is possible to create closed shapes, thus containers or dividers, or open shapes for visible shelves.

Not to forget the Icon seating family, launched last year with an incredible success and now being enlarged with a new version. Designer Marcello Zilliani, together with Mara, has created the new Icon. The lines of the seat are now moulded in a new version with a polypropylene shell that makes it ideal for office, contract and outdoor context, thanks to a resistant and durable material.

And Icon High-back: the polypropylene armchair also takes on an evolved expression with a high, padded backrest and seat cushion. The look of Icon thus becomes more sophisticated and the feeling more welcoming.
