In its quarterly note for March, the Institute of Prospective Studies for Furniture (IPEA) reported a third consecutive month in 2024 at -8% compared to March 2023.
'This third month of the year marks the eighth consecutive month of decline in the market,' continues the institute, 'a situation that the sector had not experienced since 2018, with declines in activity from April to December but in proportions much less significant. Thus, over the past twelve months, from April 2023 to March 2024, the market has seen its activity in value decrease by 4%. If we limit ourselves to the cumulative total of the last six months, from October 2023 to March 2024, the decline amounts to 6% compared to the previous period (from October 2022 to March 2023).'

Unlike February, no segment managed to stand out in March. Bedding sees its sales decline, although this segment records the smallest decrease in sales for the month. The biggest decline is once again recorded in the kitchen segment, which sees its turnover contract by more than 10%.
