Vajillas de Ultramar is proud to present 'La Vajilla', a unique collaboration that fuses art, haute couture, and ceramics, combining the designer's vision with the craftsmanship of Vajillas de Ultramar. The resulting tableware is a testimony to the adaptation of the classic motifs that define Josep Font's creative career to the world of the table. Each piece, meticulously crafted following an artisanal methodology, reflects the lightness and characteristic movement that Vajillas de Ultramar infuses into earthenware.
It consists of six independent designs: Knot, Bow, Flower, Face, Vase, and Calla. Each of these designs is applied to four pieces: dinner plate, dessert plate, bread plate, and bowl. The techniques used to shape the volumes proposed in the design range from the carving of the moulds for the relief to the delicate applications placed by hand on the surface of the dish before baking.
The process of transferring Josep Font's innovative ideas to earthenware has been complex and challenging. Simulating fabrics in a rigid material has required a meticulous artisanal process, and each piece incorporates endless details that give verisimilitude to the design, from millimetre-created bows to knots that seem tied to the plate. The result is a collection that reflects the dedication and mastery of both teams.
