Statistics show year-on-year decrease in EU imports and exports

In March 2024 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to February 2024, decreased for exports (-1.7%) and increased for imports (+1.5%). Exports increased by +0.6% for EU countries and decreased by -3.9% for non-EU countries. Imports rose by +0.3% for EU countries and by +3.2% for non-EU countries.

Over the last quarter, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous one, decreased both for exports (-1.1%) and for imports (-4.4%).

In March 2024, compared with the same month of the previous year, exports decreased by -8.9% and imports dropped by -11.2%. Outgoing flows decreased both for EU countries (-12.3%) and non-EU countries (-5.0%). Incoming flows decreased by -10.1% for EU area and dropped by -12.8% for non-EU area.

In March 2024, trade balance registered a surplus of +4,341 million Euros (-1,428 million Euros deficit for EU countries and +5,769 million Euros surplus for non-EU countries). Excluding energy, trade balance surplus was equal to +8,145 million Euros.

In March 2024, import prices increase by 0.6% on monthly basis (+0.1% for the euro zone, +1.1% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices decrease by 1.6% (-0.5% for the euro zone, -2.6% for the non-euro zone).

Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, decrease by 3.5% (-2.5% for the euro zone, -4.6% for the non-euro zone).
