Marco Barbuio from BXB Interior Collections, agent for Designwerk

'Designwerk surprises its customers not only with its designs but also with the price'

In 2019, Designwerk was launched as a brand by the Cotta Group. Today, Designwerk is represented in more than 27 countries across Europe. In collaboration with its dealer network, Designwerk sets groundbreaking trends worldwide. Designwerk produces in Europe for Europe, with a range consisting of sofas (indoor and outdoor), armchairs, and beds complemented by matching rugs, coffee, and side tables.

The brand was at the Salone del Mobile in Milan last April. InteriorDaily talked with the brand's Dutch agent, Marco Barbuio of BXB Interior Collections.

Can you highlight some of the key design philosophies that set Designwerk's furniture apart from other European designs?
'Designwerk pays a lot of attention to seating comfort and draws inspiration from classic designs that seem to be timeless. Always with an eye for high comfort and the use of high-quality materials at a good price.'

What role does customisation play in the (upholstered) furniture industry in Liechtenstein, and how do manufacturers ensure that custom-made pieces meet the unique needs of their customers?
'Each sofa model consists of a variety of elements. This type of plan allows the customer to assemble a setup suitable for the space. Ultimately, it depends on the model whether there is a large type of plan or a smaller scheme of elements, but there is always a choice to put together a suitable sofa. Most sofas at Designwerk consist of elements that can also be used as freestanding elements, thus being beautifully upholstered all around.'

You were an exhibitor at Salone del Mobile. How does Designwerk look back on the fair?
'It was a very successful Salone del Mobile. The new items of the collection were launched in Milan. The visit was overwhelming. Not only in numbers but also by the many interested parties from different countries of the world.'

Are there any plans for the coming months?
'Besides its indoor collection, Designwerk now also has an outdoor collection. Since we live outside for a part of the year as well, Designwerk wished to extend the comfort of indoors to the outdoors. The outdoor collection has the same allure as the indoor collection. Designwerk will participate in the Spoga Gafa fair in Cologne with the collection for the first time this year.

After the Spoga Gafa fair, Designwerk is preparing for the M.O.W. fair in September. Designwerk also has a permanent showroom in Herford D. (a 10-minute drive from the M.O.W. fair).

Designwerk surprises its customers not only with the designs but also with the price. Often, people suspect that Designwerk is much more expensive, both the finish and the designs suggest this. We present some of the bestsellers in our showroom in De Woonindustrie (Nieuwegein, Netherlands) on the first floor (stands B014A & B014B). Interested parties are welcome to come and view and experience the collection.'
