UK flooring, furniture and lighting sales saw a notable decline in April.
UK flooring sales experienced a significant decline, with the value of retail sales dropping by nearly a quarter compared to March. In England, Wales, and Scotland combined, sales amounted to £211,524,000, marking a decrease of 23.98% compared to the previous month.

Despite these declines in flooring sales, April 2024 still ranked as the 95th highest value of sales out of 460 months recorded by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) since comparable records began in January 1986.
Furniture and lighting retail sales hit the lowest April figure since the onset of the pandemic. The combined value of sales in England, Scotland, and Wales amounted to £1,125,749,000, marking a 22.89% decrease compared to March 2024 and a 14.2% drop compared to April 2023.
Despite these declines in lighting and furniture sales, April 2024 still ranked as the 84th highest value of sales in any month recorded by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) since comparable records began in January 1986.
