Last year, the first "POHA House" was opened in Aachen, Germany, at the Theaterplatz. This residential project combines living, working, and spending time together. The POHA House is Netzwerk Boden's flooring project for 2024.
The housing offer of the future must provide more than "just housing". Flexible forms of work, a lack of living space in cities, the increasing number of households, economic changes, and digitalisation are influencing the planning and design of future housing offers.
How can a location be made attractive and livable for skilled workers and talent?
In addition to high living and quality of life standards, the POHA living concept offers an appealing workplace. As part of the redevelopment of the corner building at Theaterplatz 1, six floors were transformed to create 1,800 m² of living space in furnished units of various sizes and a co-working space on the first floor. The heart of the building is the communal space on the top floor, which includes a panoramic view of the cathedral and the town hall. The office space is public and easily bookable. The living concept was planned and executed by Schmitz + Hansen Architekten Part GmbH from Aachen.

A floor covering for all apartments, offices, and common areas
1,500 sqm of a timeless vinyl design flooring with a wood look, Expona Commercial Classic Oak, was laid across all divisions. The floor was professionally installed by F.D. Beissel Fussbodentechnik from Aachen. The choice fell on flooring from the Expona Commercial collection, as it was the ideal solution for the construction project thanks to its extremely high quality, resistance, and flexible applications. This floor covering and an installed impact sound underlay met the requirement to combine modern office space with a sense of well-being in the living areas.

The multi-certified coverings also have the Indoor Air Comfort Gold seal and are of the highest quality. They contain only phthalate-free and biological plasticisers.
Solved together
Many stakeholders were involved in the "POHA House" project: from the architect to the construction companies and the manufacturers of the individual building components. The "Flooring Project 2024" award goes to all participants, demonstrating that the best solutions are found together and projects become winning projects.
