Binst Architects celebrates 50th anniversary with publication honouring its late founder

Leading Belgian architecture firm, Binst Architects, celebrates its 50th anniversary with the launch of Untitled, a comprehensive and analytical publication that offers profound insight into their multidisciplinary work.

The firm, which started as Jo Crepain Architect, evolved over the last 50 years into Crepain Binst Architects, and finally, Binst Architects. Untitled is a tribute to this rich history, honouring the legacy of its late founder Jo Crepain, who led the firm for 25 years. Now under the leadership of Luc Binst, who also celebrates his 50th birthday, the book signifies a new era for the company.

Spanning nearly 1,400 pages, Untitled is organised into eight complementary themes that form the backbone of the book. It features 150 projects across various domains, including urban planning, architecture, interior design, product development, art integration, and even fashion. This extensive overview showcases the diverse disciplines in which Binst Architects operates. Additionally, an engaging podcast series, in collaboration with Architectura, is planned over the next eight months, exploring each chapter with relevant guests.

Untitled stands out as an unconventional architectural book—a blueprint with encyclopaedic depth, serving as a cornerstone in architectural literature. The firm aims to address the complexities of modern building practices through this publication.

'Through this book, we lay bare our DNA, revisiting past and future projects, our thematic and methodological approach. It's a bold step, but a deliberate one. With Untitled, Binst Architects aims to provide essential reading for the academic world, inspiring the next generation. It also aligns with our strategy to position ourselves as a think tank for innovation and a sounding board for R&D towards suppliers and producers,' says Luc Binst, CEO of Binst Architects.

Luc Binst views the book as a catalyst for a crucial growth process, focusing on top-tier expertise and an expanding diversity of disciplines. In essence, architecture enthusiasts will find in this book a reference work, a glimpse into the future, and a remarkable object that pushes the boundaries of architectural publications in terms of design and craftsmanship.
