The iconic Vision cabinet programme by designers Pierre Mazairac and Karel Boonzaaijer finds a new home at furniture manufacturer Arco. Originally developed in 1984 for furniture factory Pastoe, this modular cabinet programme will live on under the wings of the Arco family business.
In a personal letter, Pierre Mazairac and Karel Boonzaaijer report the following:
"As many know, in 1984 we designed the Vision modular cabinet programme for the renowned furniture factory Pastoe and signed a licence agreement with them. During the ensuing 40-year period, our design grew into an international success.
Following Pastoe's bankruptcy this spring, the Pastoe brand passed into the hands of a new owner (Pastoe Furniture), but without the licensing rights to our authentic Vision cabinet design. We took back the production and sales rights of it well before the bankruptcy.
After thorough investigation, we decided to entrust the licensing rights of our Vision cabinet design to another, renowned and high-quality company. We consciously chose furniture factory Arco from Winterswijk, a special and unique family business that manufactures its own furniture with a history dating back more than 120 years. Their vision, craftsmanship, ambition, courage and above all love for original design, gives us confidence that our Vision cabinet design is in good hands at Arco.
We are convinced that this fantastic partner, Arco, will give a new impetus to our Vision cabinet concept. We are very happy with it and will certainly keep you informed of further developments," said Pierre Mazairac & Karel Boonzaaijer.
