Lladró crowns sustainability efforts with 'For the Planet' event

To commemorate World Environment Day, Lladró together with Bang Media, recently took part in a Niccolo Lectures event under the theme 'For the Planet', hosted by the Niccolo Hotel in Chengdu, China.

The event called on all sectors of society to integrate concepts such as environmental protection and sustainable development into everyday routines. Three industry experts from the media, art, and lifestyle sectors were invited to share their views on initiatives in environmental protection and sustainable development.

Kzeng Jiang, the first Chinese artist to collaborate with Lladró, presented his two versions of The Guest. Both creations pay homage to his Chinese cultural roots through symbols such as face painting and Song Dynasty floral painting, rendered in his own distinctive style. The face of the larger version, which is also a limited edition, has three eyes that, according to the artist, allow him to see the past, present and future as if he were a time-traveling messenger.

The use of blue tones for decoration on white porcelain gives a sense of harmony and visual balance, which combined with touches of golden lustre convey the sense of prestige associated with ancient Chinese porcelain.

He also introduced a range of Lladró porcelain sculptures, including the Macaw Bird Vase and the Origami Panther. During his speech, he discussed how to explore environmental protection and sustainable lifestyles through artistic creation, embedding the concept of green recycling in trendy art, and guiding guests in exploring the value of sustainable development from an artistic aesthetic perspective.

Additionally, Ms. Chang Wen, the founder of GOGREEN, gave a talk on the theme of living sustainably and Mr. Cai Daobin, Executive Chef of Niccolo Chengdu, spoke about fulfilling the concepts of environmental protection and corporate social responsibility from the professional perspective of the catering industry.

Niccolo Hotels is a collection of five contemporary chic hotels inspired by luxury fashion, known for their engaging experiences, art, design, and sophisticated spaces. The first property opened in Chengdu in 2015, with locations now in Hong Kong SAR, Changsha, Chongqing, and Suzhou. Niccolo Hotels is part of Wharf Hotels' portfolio and a member of Global Hotel Alliance, the world's largest alliance of independent hotel brands.

Lladró reaffirms their commitment to sustainability by creating beauty with natural, locally-sourced materials, slow design, and equality. Their aim is to preserve the world for future generations by developing initiatives that are responsible toward people, the economy, and the environment.
