Ikea Industry Wielbark, a crucial production facility supplying Ikea stores with furniture from popular lines like Hemnes and Havsta, is facing employment reductions. The factory, located in the Szczycieński county, currently employs nearly 1,500 workers. Due to challenging market conditions, the company has been compelled to downsize its workforce.

Official statements from Ikea Industry confirm the necessity of letting go of 40 employees, amounting to 2.7% of the workforce in Wielbark. Despite implementing remedial measures, declining orders for specific product lines have persisted, prompting these layoffs. The affected employees were informed of these decisions on June 5, 2024.
Ikea emphasises its commitment to responsible business practices, pledging support to affected employees through severance packages and assistance in finding new job opportunities. This decision reflects Ikea's strategy to ensure long-term stability and sustainability in its operations.
Ikea Industry, part of Inter Ikea, operates over 30 factories across 7 countries and employs 15,000 people globally. In Poland alone, IKEA Industry operates 16 factories employing 9,000 individuals across 8 locations. The Wielbark plant, despite these reductions, remains integral to Ikea's global supply chain and continues to play a significant role in furniture production for Ikea stores worldwide.
