Designer & Owner Rien Vermeulen of Dutch company Gealux:

'You wouldn't guess the new collection features an innovative, patented electric reclining system'

At the IMM fair in Cologne, the first model was already presented; Gealux's new Levatta collection. The Dutch company based in Culembourg is known as an expert in recliners, featuring modern design and styling and available in various fabrics and leather versions. This was visible in the showroom, where Rob van Hooft and Rien Vermeulen gave us a guided tour. The collections are innovative, with eye-catching design and character. Gealux is able to combine comfortable seating with quality, design and individuality, tailor-made for the customer.

Hidden system
"You wouldn't guess that the new Levatta collection features an innovative, patented electric reclining system," says a proud Rien Vermeulen in the Culemborg showroom, who designed the sofa and is also founder and owner of Gealux. ''The sofa is finished in a high-quality, exclusive Italian fabric, but is also available in other fabrics and leathers. The customer can compose the sofa entirely himself, with corners in it and numerous options, such as loose armrests and manual headrests. We are constantly looking for the right balance between form and functionality.''

The recliner models can be equipped with smart comfort functions. The desired comfort position can be set either manually or electrically (by means of motors and a battery) The armchairs' backrests have an adjustable headrest, the so-called topswing. Many patents and unique technical developments make Gealux an expert in recliners. Starting with the adjustable Volo system (with button and lever), and developed further to the Subliem (button and lever with gas spring) to the final ARC system, which works entirely on the 2-motor battery and a Heart-Balance function that creates an optimal ergonomic reclining position. The legs just slightly higher than the heart, optimal muscle relaxation perfect for circulation. In addition, the ARC has an invisible extension, so no more knob and lever.

The new collection was already presented in Cologne at the IMM fair. ''This is where we presented the first model,'' Rob van Hooft told us, ''which already received very positive reactions. We then expanded this model with several elements. What is also new in this collection, besides the electric patented reclining system, is the addition of electric headrests. Also new are the extra-long footrests, which can be added as an option. All models are available in 8 to 10 weeks.''

In the showroom, the process of the collections is displayed on a large screen.

Besides IMM, Gealux will also present its new sofa collection at Destination Design in Eindhoven and during Brussels Furniture Fair.
