With its second event in Barcelona dedicated to outdoor design this coming October, Terrasza reinforces the concept of exteriorism. From October 16th to 26th, the phygital platform will organise an industrial design exhibition, a circuit of events and meetings, and a showcase inspired by the Mediterranean, celebrating the greatness of craftsmanship and Design Art with the aim of promoting synergies and exchanges that foster dialogue and reflection on lifestyles and creative challenges from a transdisciplinary perspective.
On Friday, June 21st, at the FX film school in Poble Nou, the phygital platform exclusively dedicated to outdoor design, Terrasza, presented the second edition of Terrasza BCN 2024—which will take place from October 16th to 26th in Barcelona—with a distinguished panel of guests from the design industry: Carmelo Zappulla, PhD architect, designer, and educator. Founding director at External Reference, cofounder of Sporph Design; Jorge Perea, Architect & Urban Designer, founder of JPAM, and professor of Urban Design at ETSAB – Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura of Barcelona; Edgar Cubiñà, CEO of Cubiñà; Diego Muñoz, Coordinator of the Architectural Visualization area at FX Archviz School and Administrator & Senior Artist at Phrame Design; Mariona Rubio Sabatés, journalist, curator, and art director; Alessandro Manetti, Barcelona Design Week Curator and Head of Europe LCI Education; and Isabel Roig, director of Barcelona Centre de Disseny.
Together, they contextualised the city as an ideal centre for the development of an event dedicated to outdoor living. Terrasza BCN 2024 represents an unprecedented opportunity for professionals and design enthusiasts to explore spaces, products, and events related to outdoor living.
Conceived as a 'business to buyers' event and organised within the OFF program of Barcelona Design Week, Terrasza BCN 2024 consists of multiple moments:
From October 17th to 20th: expo/market on the magnificent terrace of FX located in Poble Nou, overlooking some of the city's most emblematic architectures. The first two days are dedicated to professionals, with organised meetings with interior designers and architects; for the weekend, the space is open to the general public, and on Sunday, products and plants will be sold at a special price. Brands and collections for outdoor spaces, produced by leading companies and designed in collaboration with designers from around the world, will be showcased.
Terrasza is a new reality, both offline and online, aiming to elevate exteriorism to a real category of thought and market with international relevance. It was born in Barcelona, in the heart of the city-manifesto of design and outdoor living, and its name Terra-Sz-A is a play on words: as a tribute to the Catalan capital, where the word 'terrace,' emblematic of the pleasure of gathering with friends and family in a cosy outdoor space, is written with two S's; and to Spanish, where it is written with a Z, as in Italian, to emphasise the origin of the project's founders.
A new issue of the magazine Terrasza Views, with new illustrations by Ángela Léon, will be printed and distributed for free in the city, with a map connecting different locations, including showrooms, hotels, public and private spaces, offering dedicated showcases, installations, and thematic cultural meetings.
