Koelnmesse celebrates 100 years with the opening of Confex

Koelnmesse celebrates its 100th anniversary with the opening of Confex, a state-of-the-art event and congress centre located at the Cologne Messe/Deutz ICE railway station. This milestone marks the culmination of Koelnmesse's one-billion-euro investment program, Koelnmesse 3.0. Confex features a 20,500 square meter main hall divisible into three sections, accommodating up to 4,300 people, and two conference levels with 22 versatile rooms.

NRW Minister-President Hendrik Wüst praised Confex as a hub for international business and cultural exchange, reflecting on Koelnmesse's founding vision by Konrad Adenauer. Mayor of Cologne Henriette Reker highlighted the city's support for the project, underscoring Confex's role in attracting new events and visitors to Cologne. Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse emphasized Confex's sustainability and market readiness, noting its Platinum pre-certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Already booked through 2029, Confex anticipates hosting its inaugural events in summer 2024, including major international gatherings like the UFI Global Congress. Designed by JSWD Architects, Confex integrates seamlessly with Koelnmesse's existing structures, symbolizing the future of the trade fair industry with its flexible, efficient, and environmentally friendly design.
