Swedish interior design retailer Hemcompaniet speaks out against false claims of bankruptcy

While newsreports say Hemcompaniet, a prominent home furnishing chain, has succumbed to bankruptcy, the company has issued a statement on its social media pages alleging these claims to be false.

An article in Dagens Handel says that the company, unable to sustain its operations, faced severe financial strain exacerbated by demands from the Swedish Tax Agency to repay grant funds. The Enforcement Authority's involvement marked a critical juncture, compelling Hemcompaniet to cease operations.

The interior design retailer made the difficult decision to file for bankruptcy, citing tax debts amounting to approximately three million kronor, says Falköpings Tidning.

However, Hemcompaniet has posted the following response on social media: 'Some newspapers have written completely incorrect claims. So we have to clarify here and now what the situation is. The home company Hemcompaniet AB has not gone bankrupt. On the other hand, we have put one of our other companies in bankruptcy, JRM Nordic AB. Which are the shops in Tibro and Falköping. All the other 4 stores are owned and operated by Hemcompaniet AB and will not go bankrupt.'
