The number of televisions sold at Coolblue and MediaMarkt has doubled in recent weeks, mainly due to the European Football Championship. Large screens and beamers in particular are more popular than in years without a major sports tournament. MediaMarkt reports a sales spike during the group stage of the European Football Championship, partly due to the success of Orange and various branded promotions, although many of these have now ended.
ElectronicPartner (EP), which has 100 shops in the Netherlands, saw sales growth of 65 per cent in June, rising to 80 per cent in the last weeks of June. Due to a scarcity in the rental of large screens, sales of the largest models such as 75 and 85 inches are on the rise at EP.
