Søstrene Grene puts muscle behind sustainability efforts

The world is facing a significant environmental and climate challenge in the future. It is a challenge that we must all come together to address. Therefore, Søstrene Grene has acknowledged a profound responsibility to actively work towards reducing our impact on the climate and the environment throughout the entire value chain.

Every year, the company compiles a climate account that outlines their overall carbon footprint, helping them identify areas where they can reduce it. Seen in relation to their turnover in 2022/2023, their emissions have decreased compared to previous years, which is a positive indicator of the impact of our climate-focused initiatives.

In total, our CO2 emissions have slightly risen, partly due to the expansion of physical stores, which has led to an increase in product sales.

The majority of the company's climate footprint originates from the production, transportation, and sale of our products. By 2030, the brand aims to reduce its CO2 emissions in this area by 58%. These targets will be validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative in the autumn of 2023.

The majority of our climate footprint originates from the production, transportation, and sale of our products. Therefore, the company is progressively working to reduce the carbon footprint of our products and create an assortment with the least possible impact on the climate.

The company also continuously increases the share of GRS-certified textile and plastic products that consist entirely or partially of recycled materials. They have also phased out a wide range of single-use products to reduce waste, including almost all single-use plastic products and our entire category of single-use tableware.

Furthermore, all electricity used in Søstrene Grene's stores and central warehouses in Germany and the Netherlands is purchased as 100% renewable energy. Solar panels installed at our central logistics warehouse will result in a 17% annual reduction in electricity consumption.
