Interview with Ricardo Pereira, Sales Director at GANSK

'Despite the slow start of summer, the demand for outdoor pieces remains high'

As the summer season is experiencing a slower start than usual, we check in with the Portuguese brand GANSK. The new brand under Albino Miranda Ltd. just started recently and specialises in artistic outdoor furniture. After speaking with Sales Director Ricardo Pereira earlier this year about the company's indoor brand Karpa, we're checking in to see how they are managing the challenging weather and to discuss the new brand's growth.

Ricardo Pereira.

Can you share the inspiration behind the creation of GANSK and what sets it apart from the parent company's existing portfolio?
'GANSK is a relatively new brand under Albino Miranda Ltd.'s, representing a strategic pivot towards outdoor furniture. While the parent company has built its reputation on creating sophisticated and artistic indoor furniture on their projects, GANSK focuses on outdoor environments. The inspiration behind GANSK was to create elegant outdoor furniture that doesn't compromise on aesthetics or functionality.

Each piece of GANSK furniture is meticulously crafted to combine beauty with practicality, offering our clients not just furniture, but a lifestyle experience that enhances their outdoor spaces. By prioritising design and durability, GANSK brings a fresh perspective to outdoor furniture, elevating it to the high standards that our parent company is renowned for.'

The use of fibreglass reinforced resins is a distinctive feature of GANSK products. What advantages does this material offer, and how does it contribute to the designs?
'Resin reinforced with fibreglass is a superior material choice for outdoor furniture, offering a combination of strength, durability, and design flexibility. This material provides exceptional strength without the weight of traditional materials like metal or solid wood. It's highly resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. It doesn't warp, crack, or corrode, ensuring long-lasting performance even in harsh outdoor conditions.

One of the most significant advantages is the material's ability to be moulded into complex shapes, contributing to the uniqueness of our designs. Our seamless forms would be difficult or impossible to achieve with other materials, such as wood or metal.'

GANSK's furniture is manufactured by hand through meticulous procedures. Could you elaborate on the craftsmanship involved?
'GANSK stands out in the outdoor furniture industry by committing to an entirely handmade production process, ensuring unparalleled quality and craftsmanship. While competitors rely on machinery for mass production, GANSK maintains traditional artisanal methods to guarantee each piece is unique and meticulously crafted.

From crafting prototypes, to the mould making, production and finishing of each piece of the collection, everything is manual. This also allows us to guarantee that each piece undergoes multiple inspections throughout the production process. Artisans and quality control experts check for structural integrity, finish quality, and overall aesthetics to make sure we always deliver the maximum quality.'

The summer has had a slow start, with repeatedly bad weather. Have you noticed this in trade conditions for the outdoor brand?
'Despite the start of summer with lower temperatures than usual, the demand for outdoor pieces remains high. Currently we are working at full capacity, with the order book completely full until October. This overwhelming demand highlights the trust and satisfaction our clients place in GANSK's products.

We are actively present in several key markets including the United States, Spain, France, and the Middle East and we have been seeing an increase in sales in each one of those markets.'

What trends are you currently seeing in the outdoor furniture and decor industry, and how is GANSK adapting its designs to meet these trends?
'The outdoor furniture and decor industry is experiencing a dynamic evolution, driven by changing consumer preferences. We see a growing emphasis on sustainability and wellness and we are making a strong shift towards using eco-friendly and sustainable materials as well as adopting eco-friendly manufacturing processes, including low-emission production techniques and reducing waste.'

Looking ahead, what are GANSK's plans for the future?
'GANSK is excited to embark on several ambitious initiatives aimed at expanding our presence and influence in the world of outdoor furniture. Our focus will be on exploring new markets, to introduce our distinctive collections and innovative pieces to a broader audience.

Additionally, we are committed to developing new collections that push the boundaries of design, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal, ensuring our designs not only inspire but also enhance everyday living.

Participating in new fairs and exhibitions will also be a key strategy for us, as these platforms offer invaluable opportunities to showcase our craftsmanship and connect with industry leaders and design enthusiasts alike. By embracing these avenues for growth and innovation, GANSK is prepared to redefine outdoor furniture aesthetics while staying true to our tradition of handcrafted quality and creativity.'
