Isomi has launched Layer, an endlessly flexible mix-and-match desk system designed for longevity, replaceability, and material variety.
From the mind of Isomi design director Paul Crofts in collaboration with product design consultant Gensler, Layer makes significant in-roads towards more sustainable manufacturing.
The flexible desk solution Clip-on panels can easily be fixed into place with a versatile frame that can house drawers, cupboards and other functional elements. This can then be dressed with a wide range of materials, creating many possibilities for aesthetic expression.
The Layer system prioritises adaptability and sustainability. Its modular design allows for the easy replacement of panels, enabling users to update the desk's aesthetics with new materials. This eliminates the need to purchase a completely new desk for a refresh. All panels are mechanically fixed for easy disassembly, enabling the desk to be refreshed/redressed and reused rather than disposed of, allowing for end-of-life recycling or material reuse.
Flexibility is key to the Layer concept – it is designed to be quick and intuitive to assemble, enabling the desk to be moved, modified and expanded and for components to be easily replaced whenever needed. This extends the lifespan of the desk, so it can be adapted to suit new environments and purposes over time.
