Founded in Portugal, Stylish Club aims to set itself apart by creating not just furniture, but a unique experience for its clients. We interview Creative Director Rui Martins and delve into the inspiration behind Stylish Club, the influence of Portuguese culture on its designs, and the future trends in the furniture industry. We also get a sneak peek into their latest project, "Modernity With An Organic Twist", and their expectations for their first appearance at Decorex in October.
Rui Martins, Creative Director at Stylish Club.
Can you share the inspiration behind Stylish Club and the history of the company?
'Stylish Club distinguishes itself as a post-modern brand built on references from the past, preserving in its aesthetic genesis the characteristics of contemporary design. However, it does not present itself merely as a brand, but rather as a club where the client and their home are privileged and unique members. This club represents the connection between people, design, fashion trends, and art, creating experiences through each environment, product, and detail—from production to assembly. I invite all readers to visit our website and explore our social networks, so you can become a part of the Club's Creative Story!'
Being a brand born in Portugal, how does Portuguese culture and heritage influence your designs?
'It's important for us as a brand to preserve Portuguese history and culture because, aside from being a source of pride and inspiration, it is one of the factors that sets us apart in the market. The brand's new catalogue, presented last April in Milan, serves as a tribute to this rich heritage. It showcases a Villa on the banks of the Douro River, which graces the city where our headquarters are located.'

What future trends do you foresee in the furniture industry, and how is Stylish Club preparing to meet these trends?
'We're seeing more and more spaces designed to create a sense of fluidity and harmony, a trend that is set to endure. This approach has enhanced comfort across various aspects of interior environments, which alone ensures its longevity.
Materials such as glass, even when applied and presented in innovative ways, will continue to be explored. Natural materials will remain a staple choice for designers, with fibres like linen offering aesthetic beauty and a connection to nature. Textures that invite touch and soft finishes will undoubtedly rise in popularity, bringing depth and warmth to interiors.'
Your latest project, "Modernity With An Organic Twist", showcases your approach to minimalist design. Can you tell us more about this project and how it aligns with current trends?
'Since minimalism is one of this year's main trends, we believe this project perfectly showcases the brand's versatility. Due to our customisation capabilities, the brand's collections can seamlessly integrate into a vast array of styles, all while preserving the essence of the Club and its core values. This project also showcases the essence of "Laidback Luxury". In my point of view, this style represents timeless elegance, seeking a balance between the truth of materials, the variety of shapes, and the feeling of comfort. It's about luxury that feels cosy, calm, and unpretentious—a look that is often challenging to achieve due to its delicate balance.'

Stylish Club will be attending Decorex in October. What are your expectations of the fair?
'As this is our first time at Decorex, we have high expectations! We look forward to connecting with our UK partners and clients, as well as visitors from other markets, to showcase our latest news and assist with any ongoing projects. Additionally, as a brand made by people for people, we're excited to share a memorable experience with everyone who visits us.
We will be bringing the River Collection to British shores, allowing our visitors to explore this new collection up close. It's a collection we're especially proud of, so it simply had to be featured at our debut Decorex.'
What are the future plans for Stylish Club?
'We will continue to be present at the Salone del Mobile in Milano and explore new fairs, not only in Europe but around the world, to bring the Club closer to as many interior designers, architectures and interior design enthusiasts as possible!'
