A sawmill and timber retailer in Seeburg, Germany, suffered a devastating fire last night. The blaze was fully engulfing the sawmill by 21:30 when the fire brigade arrived. Fire Brigade Operations Manager Marcel Hartelt reported that the primary focus was to protect a nearby residential building, a task accomplished just in time.

The fire department formed three fire sections and deployed at least 250 personnel to save the sawmill, Kurth Holz. Neighbours reportedly heard explosions before the fire rapidly spread. By midnight, the fire was largely under control.
Founded in 1946 by Aloys Kurth and now run by his grandson Thomas Kurth, Kurth Holz has been a staple in Seeburg for three generations. The company highlights efficient transport from forest to production, modern sawmill operations, and local job creation on its website.
