Why Ikea's Pax wardrobe can now be assembled by one person

Ikea's has upgraded its Pax wardrobe system. The main focus of this update is the frame, which is now foldable.

This allows for vertical assembly, so customers no longer need to build it on the floor and then lift it into place. Additionally, the new design makes it possible for one person to assemble the unit alone. The new design has therefore already garnered significant media attention.

Ikea claims that assembly time has been significantly reduced. Components can now be put together in just 20 minutes without any tools. There are also only 14 assembly steps instead of 22, and the number of fittings has decreased from 105 to just 23. This also simplifies disassembly and reassembly, making 'Pax' more durable.
