Polish minister accused of not showing support amidst growing wood industry challenges

The wood industry in Poland is facing significant challenges, yet the Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański, has shown indifference to their pleas for support, reports an article on Biznes Meble. Despite the industry's crucial role—contributing 6% to the national GDP and providing nearly 350,000 jobs—the ministry has not engaged in dialogue or offered assistance.

In 2023 alone, the furniture sector contributed PLN 492 million in income tax and PLN 541 million in other taxes and fees. However, the industry's financial health has deteriorated over the past two years, leading to reduced tax revenues for the state. Representatives of the wood industry have repeatedly requested meetings with Domański to address these issues, but their requests have been rejected.

The lack of response from the Ministry of Finance has caused concern among industry leaders, who are alarmed by the government's reluctance to address their urgent issues. They fear that continued inaction will lead to further declines in revenue and job losses. The industry is now preparing to make another appeal to the Minister, emphasizing the sector's vital contribution to the Polish economy and urging for prompt government intervention.
