The Flemish Movers Union (BKV) warns about Italian manufacturer

The professional federation of movers BKV (Belgische Kamer der Verhuizers) is warning its members about an Italian seat manufacturer. The retail chain with branches in Aartselaar, Borsbeek and Geel, engages moving firms in our country to deliver its seats to its customers, but according to BKV, the movers are waiting for their money.

Through a press release, the Belgian Chamber of Removers (BKV) wants to warn its members about the Italian chain Poltronesofà. The chain, with 15 shops in Belgium, does not have its own logistics department to deliver seats to customers. For that, it hires removal firms. "But it does not pay them," says BKV director Koenraad Vangoidsenhoven.

Already at least four firms are said to be waiting for their money, according to BKV. "One of our members has lost 65,000 euros. For another member, it is 40,000 euros," said Vangoidsenhoven. According to BKV, the payment problems would have surfaced each time after disputes over a delivery, for example because a seat was damaged. "After that, the company stopped paying invoices, although deliveries continued," he said.

Scam
BKV talks about scams in the press release. Lawsuits are pending, but they might not occur untilæfrom 2027. "We want to alert everyone to this," BKV says. "It would be unfortunate if other companies fall into the trap."

"It is true that there were problems with suppliers in the past," says Fabio De La Cerda, the regional manager for Flanders at Poltronesofà. "But that is behind us. I don't want to say more about that right now."
