Poland's once-thriving furniture industry is currently facing significant challenges, according to Polish daily Dziennik Pravna. The sector, which has long been a cornerstone of the Polish economy, is experiencing sharp declines in production, exports, and sales.

In the first half of this year, furniture sales in Poland fell to PLN 28.3 billion, a 6% decrease from the previous year. This decline has been partly attributed to reduced demand abroad, particularly in the German market, which is crucial as it accounts for 35-40% of Polish furniture exports.
Several factors contribute to the industry's struggles, including rising raw material costs from state forests and increased energy and fuel prices. These have driven up production and transport costs. Furthermore, Polish furniture manufacturers are losing market share to competitors from Bulgaria, Romania, and China. As the industry grapples with these challenges, Polish companies are striving to minimize negative impacts and end the year as favourably as possible.
