Gessi presents new Haute Culture collection in New York

As part of the exhibition 'Italian Design: from Classic to Contemporary' curated by Ferruccio Laviani, from September 5th to 29th, the pop-up dedicated to Made in Italy furniture inside one of New York's most iconic department stores, the flagship Bloomingdale's on 59th Street, will feature Gessi. Gessi brings the highest expression of Italian design and craftsmanship to the world of bathroom furnishings with the Haute Culture Perle collection.

Bloomingdale's has chosen Salone del Mobile.Milano as the exclusive partner for the site-specific installation 'Italian Design: from Classic to Contemporary', located on the sixth floor in the Home/Furnishing department.

This collaboration is part of Bloomingdale's 'From Italy with Love' project, a tribute to the icons and new proposals from over twenty brands, accompanied by a series of talks aimed at introducing the American public to the world of Italian production. These talks, scheduled for September, will highlight the influence of Made in Italy on luxury, design, culture, fashion, and food worldwide.

The initiative, which tells a story of innovation and tradition, aims to highlight the design capability of Salone del Mobile.Milano and the leading companies of the event, including Gessi. Gessi has stood out for years with its exhibition space of over 900 square meters in the S.Project area, dedicated to design products, decorative solutions, and technical aspects of the most contemporary interior design projects.

The project, balancing between an artistic installation and an experiential pop-up, curated by Ferruccio Laviani, is inspired by Giorgio de Chirico's metaphysical squares. It offers the opportunity for some icons of Italian design—companies that tell a story of ingenuity, industrial excellence, and high craftsmanship—to showcase an emblematic or recently presented product. Within the scenography, the objects have been selected with a curatorial eye by architect Laviani from the catalogs of a range of brands that best express the value and allure of Italian furniture production.

Gessi is featured with one of its Haute Culture collections, which highlight the creativity of those who design and shape its lines every day, with passion and exceptional craftsmanship. Preserving the Italian artisanal heritage: research, exchange of ideas, sensations, and desires—elements that have traditionally been the exclusive domain of haute couture—are brought into the world of living spaces through collections that embody the inventiveness and savoir-faire of a company that stands as a flagship of Made in Italy worldwide.

The new Perle collection is the perfect synthesis of this unique and personalized approach to the world of wellness. Ideal for imbuing the most intimate space of living with sculptural details of absolute elegance, it is dedicated to people who leave nothing to chance. Among the three material worlds for the handles and controls of the faucets that make up the Perle collection—Natural Stone Pearls, Metallic Pearls, and Murano Pearls—the latter takes center stage in the exhibition, along with the new washbasin unveiled for the first time at the latest edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano last April.

The culture of 'Made in Italy' craftsmanship, like the centuries-old tradition of Murano glassmakers passed down from generation to generation, is expressed in the pure form of the pearl. The glass spheres reinterpret the most representative techniques of the Venetian lagoon's artisanal history, giving them a contemporary twist. For example, the 'sommerso' technique creates spots of color seemingly suspended within the glass, or the 'pulegoso' technique, where microbubbles are incorporated into the glass, as well as surface techniques such as 'battuto' or 'molatura', presented in multiple transparencies and shades. Entirely handmade by master glassmakers, these spheres are unique pieces—true works of art, the result of original and exclusive solutions.

With Perle, which highlights artisanal techniques and millenary traditions such as Murano glassmaking and marble craftsmanship, Gessi continues its journey of exploration and elevation towards increasingly striking creations, now also on display in New York at the new Casa Gessi, recently inaugurated at 214 Lafayette Street, in the heart of SoHo.
