It has been announced last week that Carpetright Belgium has filed for bankruptcy and is ceasing all its operations with immediate effect. All 16 stores of the flooring chain in Belgium have been closed. The webshop is also offline. This is what the chain's 65 employees were told. They have now received their resignation letter.

The Antwerp auction house Auctim has been called in by the trustees to find possible buyers for the sixteen Flemish stores of Carpetright, which have been closed since last week. According to Dimitri Demol, sales manager at Auctim, there is already informal interest from two to three players in the sector.
Auctim will survey the stores' inventory in the coming weeks to determine the value of goods, office equipment and the storage location in Zaventem. Investors have the option to take over the physical stores, including the customer base and existing contracts. Demol stressed that the main goal is to give all 16 stores a new owner.
