New research reveals that 'Generation Z' is redefining interior living spaces by favouring oversized bean bag chairs over traditional furniture. According to a survey by Big Bertha Original, 26% of individuals aged 18 to 24 now own a bean bag chair as an alternative to armchairs or recliners. This trend marks a significant increase in bean bag ownership among this age group, which surpasses all other demographics.

The survey, involving 2,000 UK residents, shows that bean bag ownership has risen to 20% in the UK, up from just 11% in 2004. Additionally, 46% of Generation Z rearranges their living room furniture at least twice a year, with 33% changing it seasonally.
Jonathan Crammer, owner of Big Bertha Original, notes that younger consumers are broadening their horizons regarding style and comfort. The versatility of bean bags—available in various shapes, sizes, and colours—makes them ideal for complementing any room. Their lightweight nature allows for easy mobility, creating a more interactive living space. Overall, the blend of comfort, versatility, and affordability makes bean bags an appealing choice, especially for renters seeking stylish and functional home enhancements.
