The Brazilian government must pay former president Jair Bolsonaro compensation for false accusations that he stole presidential furniture, including a bed. Current President Lula da Silva accused Bolsonaro in February 2023 of taking 260 items when he left the Palácio da Alvorada.
It turned out that these items were in storage because Bolsonaro and his wife wanted to use their own furnishings. A federal judge ruled that Bolsonaro and his wife are entitled to compensation of 15 million reais (approximately 2400 euros) and a rectification. The president's office has appealed the decision.
