In Germany's Münsterland region, Nevalu emerged from the creativity of three architecture students: Marc Malinowski, Loy Dönne M.Sc., and Philipp Sieg M.A. A year ago, they decided to turn their vision into reality by launching a startup focused on producing unique interior products made from plastic waste. Initially starting with vases, their product line has since expanded to include lighting products, and they are now experimenting with larger designs. There is even potential for furniture pieces to be added to their collection in the future.

Sustainable production process
What sets Nevalu apart is its fully in-house production process. From design to manufacturing, everything is done locally in Germany. "As a sustainable startup, we design, develop, and produce unique products from plastic waste," says Philipp. "Our ambition is to promote the circular economy while delivering high-quality, aesthetically pleasing products."
Nevalu's production cycle is both well-thought-out and efficient. While Germany generates as much as 76 kg of plastic waste per person annually, Nevalu views this waste not as a problem, but as an opportunity. The process begins with cleaning and sorting plastic waste, which is then shredded and processed into pellets. These pellets are heated and transformed into plastic filament, the material used in their advanced 3D printers. "This technology allows us to use only the material we need, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency," explains Loy.
Nevalu's future
Nevalu has already established a solid foundation with 50 retailers in Germany, and recently, they made their debut in the Dutch market by participating in the Retail Trade Fair at Trade Mart Utrecht. "It was our first trade fair in the Netherlands, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive," says Marc. "We're excited about the opportunities here and are eager to explore further collaborations." During the event, interior products were produced live using a 3D printer.
The team is also experimenting with larger products. "We have the capability to create larger items, and in the future, we aim to add furniture to our product range," Philipp adds. Nevalu's vision extends beyond interior decoration; they seek to set a new standard for sustainable products.
Pioneering the circular economy
With their innovative approach to product development and use of recycled plastic, Nevalu considers itself a pioneer in transforming waste into valuable products. "Our goal is to create a world where resources are used efficiently and high-quality products made from recycled materials become the norm," says Loy.
