A good fitting design does not stop at the product composition; it continues in the spray pattern. For Dornbracht and Sieger Design, the way in which water is shaped and presented plays a crucial role. The same design principles applied to classic fittings such as CL.1, CYO, and Tara are also reflected in the flow of their water.
The five design principles that create the product DNA
What makes Dornbracht fittings design objects? What defines their status as highly influential style icons? An important part of the answer lies in the five design principles that the Iserlohn-based manufacturer formulated jointly with Sieger Design, establishing the basis for all product designs:
- Harmonious, balanced proportions.
- Precision expressed in clean lines and accurate radii.
- The interplay between performance and progressiveness.
- Personality: every Dornbracht fitting embodies a certain character that radiates conciseness and independence.
All these principles also affect the structure and texture of the presented water. The spray pattern acts as an extension and completes the design of the fitting.
Spray patterns as an extension of the design
With CL.1, for example, 40 soft, individual jets caress the hands while emphasizing the dynamic sensuality of the fitting. A distinguishing feature of the specially developed spray face is its efficient water consumption of 3.9 liters per minute.
With CYO, Dornbracht offers a new interpretation of the archetypal C-shaped spout, bestowing a sculptural quality to its striking form. Here, the jet of water follows the wide shape of the spout before tapering off elegantly. Tara also applies its own form, influenced by symmetry, to its spray pattern: the 180-degree bend of the spout and the water form an unbroken line, falling steadily and straight, emphasizing the minimalist, timeless character of Dornbracht's design icon.
