Skargaarden launches new pieces for 2025

CEO Jari Visuri: 'The global market is tough, but the new pieces are top of the class'

Skargaarden introduces two new chairs, a sun lounger, and the new accessory range Objects, ready to ship in the beginning of 2025. The designers Andreas Engesvik and Per Waern Jensen have designed two new chairs. 'Both the chairs are top of the respective class in my opinion,' says Jari Visuri, CEO and co-founder of Skargaarden.

Market challenges
Skargaarden is primarily active in markets across Scandinavia, Spain, Italy, Greece, and the USA, with a presence in a few other countries as well. Currently, the brand faces significant market challenges. 'High interest rates affect the sales in a negative way. And also, the global logistic challenges pose a challenge, with high costs and long lead times,' Jari says. Despite of this Jari is excited about the new pieces that have been released.

Sundal armchair
Sundal is a stunningly beautiful village in Vestland county, Norway. The village has been a centre of tourism for over 150 years. There are less than hundred inhabitants in the village, which has a camping ground, and an inn. Tourists travels to Sundal to experience the great nature, the nearby glacier, and the beautiful valleys. The chairs designer Andreas Engesvik named the chair to Sundal as a tribute to the village as it is one of his favourite places in Norway.

The Sundal armchair is made in teak with a frame in heat- and corrosion powder coated stainless steel. The armchair is designed with restaurants, cafés, patios and balconies in mind. Designed and produced to withstand any weather conditions outdoors through any season. The armchair is stackable and comfortable.

Tira armchair
The Tira armchair and dining table is designed by Per Waern Jensen. The armchair is inspired from the shape of a bird's nest, with chair legs that embrace the chair seat and back. The range has therefore been named from the nature reserve Tira islands, which is an island group in southern Sweden. The islands are mostly primeval forest. The nature reserve has an interesting bird life with one of the country's richest diversities of bird species.

The Tira dining chair and dining table, powder coated aluminium frame with rope seat and backrest. The dark grey all-weather seat cushion that is included is upholstered with a water-repellent fabric. A contemporary dining chair, made to be incredibly versatile, elevating designed outdoor spaces, yachts and high end residential.

Koster sun lounger
The Koster islands are the westernmost parts of Sweden. 'It's the perfect testing ground for outdoor furniture. It doesn't get more outdoor than this. Sun, wind, rain, saltwater, snow, you name it. The sun lounger design suits any design hotel, exclusive resort, pool side, or contemporary residence,' Jari says.

The Koster sun lounger with teak frame and sling seat and backrest is a new sun lounger in a classic Scandinavian style with an additional weather resistant padded cushion in the colour Southend greyish brown. The Koster range and the new sun lounger is designed by Studio Norrlandet.

Outdoor accessories
The final design in exclusive high-end indoor projects is often forgotten outdoors. 'Great, stylish design for outdoor spaces is easy to achieve if you use matching outdoor accessories. We are launching additional accessories to the objects collection in the fall,' Jari says. Some of the new items are vases and a stoneware dish are in collaboration with talented ceramicists Anna Löwenhielm and Bjarne Puggard. Barbro Berlin has designed a lantern and the brand released wool blankets in collaboration with Alexander Stutterheim.

Future plans
Looking ahead, Skargaarden plans to implement a growth strategy once the economic recession subsides, with hopes that the market conditions will improve. 'Hopefully we will see that happen within the next 12 months.'
