UK department store Browns reports continued sales growth

Independent department store Browns has reported continued sales growth, with turnover exceeding £11 million. For the year ending January 27, 2024, total sales increased by 5.5%, reaching £11.5 million, up from £10.9 million in 2023. This follows a significant growth of 22.4% from £8.9 million in 2022.

However, pre-tax profit fell to £232,000, a decline from the previous year's £699,000. In its report, Browns, which operates four locations in York, Helmsley, Beverley, and Gainsborough, highlighted its strategy of expanding the merchandise mix by introducing new brand partners. This move is expected to enhance product variety and contribute to future sales growth.
