Former Harrods executive accuses Fenwick of blocking his appointment as new CEO

Former Harrods executive Nigel Blow has accused Fenwick of blocking his appointment as its new CEO just two weeks before he was set to start. Initially due to take the role on October 17, Blow expressed his shock at Fenwick's decision, stating it came after weeks of meetings with executives and shareholders.

The news comes amid reports that Blow had decided to withdraw from the position following multiple allegations of sexual assault and rape made against Mohamed Al Fayed, Harrods' previous owner. However, Blow clarified that Fenwick withdrew the offer, not him, and said he had no knowledge of Al Fayed's alleged misconduct during his tenure at Harrods between 2002 and 2007.

Blow, who was excited to help turn around Fenwick's financial struggles, also expressed horror at the recent BBC documentary, which detailed allegations against Al Fayed, but emphasised that he never witnessed or heard of such behaviour while at Harrods.

The situation raises further attention to Harrods, which is investigating whether any of its current employees were involved in the accusations against Al Fayed, who passed away in 2023.
