October 2024 marks 30 years of Mud Australia. To celebrate this significant milestone, the company is reflecting on everything that has made the journey so special. As one of Australia's longest-standing craft-based businesses, Mud Australia's evolution over the last three decades reflects its origins—a studio garage in 1994 where Founder & Creative Director, Shelley Simpson, first discovered her passion for pottery.
On October 10th, the company excited opened the doors to its twelfth retail location, welcoming a brand new Mud Australia store in Islington, UK. This moment has coincided with Mud Australia's 30th anniversary.
To mark the 30th anniversary milestone, the company is celebrating in style with cake and champagne at all its stores around the world—Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, London, New York, and Los Angeles. These celebrations will kick off a year-long journey filled with exclusive product launches, creative collaborations, special events, and more.
'Looking back on our journey, I feel immensely grateful. It's been very special to work with so many wonderful people, growing this business and connecting with our communities around the world. Our customers have been incredibly supportive, and I'm very thankful,' says Shelley Simpson, company founder.
What began as Shelley Simpson's personal passion for pottery has evolved into a beloved brand known for its minimalist, handmade porcelain tableware and homewares. By 1999, Mud Australia had developed its signature collection, a curated range of dinnerware, serving pieces, and essentials for entertaining.
Since then, the company has expanded thoughtfully, allowing for even more creativity and customisation. In 2020, Mud Australia became a certified climate and carbon-neutral business—something they're particularly proud of. Their commitment to mindful production is ongoing, and they strive to make a positive impact in everything they do.
12 stores across Australia, the US, and the UK
Since 2001, they have thoughtfully built 12 Mud Australia stores around the globe. Each store serves as a unique community hub where they connect with customers. These spaces allow them to be playful and creative with how they display their collection and tell their brand story.
Entirely Australian made
Their collection has always been crafted by hand in Sydney's inner west. Producing locally is essential to their commitment to sustainability, quality, and innovation. By keeping their manufacturing close to home, they reduce their carbon footprint while ensuring each piece meets their high standards of craftsmanship.
