'High Point Market provides great insights into how different brands adapt themselves to consumer behaviour'

Jamie Young Co., a leading designer and showroom in upscale lighting and decor in the US, reintroduces its Lampshade Collection, featuring new styles and premium natural materials that allow trade professionals to create a truly personalised look for their lamps. The new collection is showcased at this year's High Point Market, bringing fresh, artisan-crafted options to the market for interior designers, retailers, and design-minded clients. We talk to President and Founder Jamie Young.

The High Point Market is currently in full swing, running until October 26-30. What are your expectations for the fair?
'To me, High Point Market is the epicentre of emerging trends and innovations within our industry. Attending each year and season, I'm always eager to see how technology and materiality evolve.

Aside from furniture design, the market also provides great insights into how different brands position themselves, specifically within various collaborations and partnerships and their adaptations to consumer behaviour.

From a more social perspective, High Point is our opportunity to reunite and engage with our community of clients and buyers and connect on upcoming projects and needs, whether it be for retail, commercial, or residential projects. Customer feedback is invaluable when it comes to designing collections to come!'

How is the market in the US right now?
'The market in the US is continuously evolving, with a strong focus for brands to expand beyond furniture into categories like smaller home accents, lighting, and decor/accent pieces. For us, we're seeing consumer behaviours shift to revitalising pieces already in homes, which led to the resurgence of our lampshade collection.

The industry is also seeing a notable shift in shopping behaviours, where it's predominantly online shopping. Customers are expecting a seamless and intuitive shopping experience, so we're continuing to prioritize convenience and accessibility.'

New lampshade collection
Lampshades have been an integral part of Jamie Young Co.'s brand history, adding variety and personality to its lighting offerings. As the market evolved, the brand streamlined its selection but now returns to offer a curated array of high-demand shapes and nature-driven materials. With durable, high-quality construction and timeless style, the collection is designed to meet the evolving needs of today's design-savvy customers.
