Interview with Steve Breit, Managing director at TRIMIT NL

Expanding in the European market with TRIMIT

Since 1990, TRIMIT, founded in Denmark, has been the go-to solution for the furniture industry struggling with the limitations of standard ERP systems. Recently, we caught up with Steve Breit, Managing Director at TRIMIT NL, who highlighted the importance of seeking the right ERP solution in today's tough market. This week we'll dive deeper into one of TRIMIT's recent projects with the Dutch furniture company Satelliet, and how TRIMIT can help brands to expand their products to the European market.

Satelliet x TRIMIT.

How does TRIMIT help companies expand their products to the European market?
'For furniture companies that want to increase their sales without losing control over operations or inventory, TRIMIT is the ideal ERP solution. The system is specifically designed to simplify the complexities of variant management and product configuration, allowing businesses to easily tailor their products to meet the diverse needs of different markets and consumers.

Expanding into new markets often presents challenges, such as a variety of product options, materials and finishes. At the same time, companies want to maintain control over inventory management, production, and maintenance of the underlying Bill of Materials (BOMs) without causing them to grow out of control. This is becoming increasingly important, especially at a time when the shortage in the labour market is putting pressure on efficiency.

TRIMIT helps companies meet these challenges by bringing all these elements together in one integrated system, which makes it possible to efficiently manage multiple product variations for different markets. In addition to this powerful functionality, TRIMIT also offers an advanced B2B portal and a Sales Agent solution, which allows companies to effectively manage orders, sales, and product configurations in various regions. This enables businesses to scale their operations, increase customer satisfaction, and respond quickly to the dynamic demands of the market.'

Recently, TRIMIT started a project with Satelliet. Can you tell us more about this?
'After several years with a Microsoft BC and TRIMIT on-premise solution, the Dutch hospitality furniture company Satelliet decided to make a much-needed transition to the latest cloud-based solution from TRIMIT. Now, the conditions are in place for Satelliet to achieve their business goals, starting new projects and expanding their products to the European market.

Since 1971, Satelliet has been a market leader in Holland regarding design and producing hospitality furniture for sectors such as hospitality, office, care, retail, leisure and education. Satelliet are also present on the Belgian, Scandinavian and British markets via business partners, but the Breda-based company is planning to expand into more countries in Europe in the near future.

However, there were quite a few issues with their former Business Central solution that complicated achieving this goal. Edwin Waegemakers, Business Solutions Architect at Satelliet, explains their challenges:

"The old system was beginning to give us problems, making a lot of system errors. Furthermore, we experienced an increase in the amount of customers who want to customize our products, and a regular Business Central solution does not allow customizable items like that. Most importantly, support on the old system was not updated anymore. It was quite frustrating."

Edwin and his colleagues were already acquainted with TRIMIT since they used it as an add-on in their old system. Therefore, Satelliet reached out to TRIMIT wishing to upgrade and migrate their former environment to the latest cloud-based Business Central and TRIMIT solution. Overall, the migration of the environment and the implementation of the latest TRIMIT solution has been very successful, according to Edwin:

"We had high hopes and confidence in TRIMIT, and they have proven to be exactly what we expected in terms of advice, technical knowledge and suggestions on how to use the system in ways that support our business goals. It is very important to us to have a partner possessing profound expertise in both technical aspects and industry insights. Functionally, it's the same system. It just looks different and is more modern. But there is less maintenance on the system required from us, and what's great about the cloud among other is the backup options that we now have. It's all done automatically. Updates are applied automatically with the option to postpone until everything has been tested."

Thanks to TRIMIT Cloud, Satelliet has laid the foundation for further growth and scaling. The technology enables them to support their business goals, conquer new markets and further strengthen their position as a market leader in the hospitality furniture industry.'

What are the plans for TRIMIT in 2025?
'TRIMIT Group has decided to invest strategically in its Dutch organisation, TRIMIT NL, in the coming years. The reason for this lies in the expected replacements of software at many furniture and make-to-order companies in the Netherlands, which will take place in the next 2 to 3 years.

As part of this investment, TRIMIT has chosen the theme of "double-up", where we are fully aware that in order to realise this ambition, the organisational capacity will first have to be increased. This ambition may be called ambitious, but TRIMIT Group has designated the Netherlands as a strategic region and is willing to invest substantially in it.

The objective is to further expand the TRIMIT community in the Netherlands, so that we can connect our relationships and share knowledge. This is already happening on a smaller scale, but we see great added value in further intensifying these connections. It is our experience that, not only in the field of software, but also in other areas, the challenges and solutions are often close to each other. We play an active role in establishing these contacts so that customers can help each other and learn from each other. The result is a win-win-win situation where we share the mutual software needs and companies themselves share valuable knowledge about other business issues. This not only strengthens mutual relationships, but also stimulates cooperation and innovation within the sector.'
