Mara's philosophy at Orgatec: 'the office is dynamic and sensorial'

The company Mara presented its latest innovations for workspaces at the Cologne trade fair, showcasing the results of four collaborations with renowned designers. The collection features a flexible, multifunctional environment that combines technical functionality with a domestic aesthetic, promoting well-being through a design that prioritises comfort and vibrant colours.

The office of the future? It is a hybrid place, between physical and digital, thus versatile, able to change its configuration and functions depending on the context, whether it is within a traditional working space or within the domestic walls; it is an open space where furniture can modulate the environment and thus guarantee privacy, when necessary, encourage aggregation for the sharing of ideas, and even transform itself into contemporary furnishing accessories for the living area.

This multi-faceted concept is undermining the idea of an office made up of fixed workstations and, above all, relegated to the canonical workplace (the 'smart working' and 'working from home' are now an everyday occurrence), and Mara - a company specialising in hospitality and contract furnishings for office and community environments - is closely following its evolution.

In this renewed vision, the working space is related to the new dynamic and fluid working methods and therefore the furniture dedicated to it has the same design features. Tables, desks, chairs, and accessories are designed by Mara to guarantee technical performance and high functionality, accompanied, however, by a refined and elegant aesthetic that creates warmer and more familiar atmospheres. To foster this feeling of well-being, Mara's design focuses on comfort but also on sensorial design, the result of a careful combination of colours and materials. Delicate and embracing palettes - such as terracotta, light blue, green and blue that evoke the natural elements - paint Mara's new proposals, amplifying their emotionality and distinctive character, then emphasising their materiality, whether natural or technical.

It is precisely this philosophy that inspires Mara in the creation of innovative furnishing collections, which thus intercept the trends of the future thanks also to the collaboration of internationally known designers such as Ferruccio Laviani, Christophe Pillet, Marcello Ziliani and AMDL Circle, the studio founded by Michele De Lucchi, presented at Orgatec.

The Collections. Between novelties and range extensions
Mara presented itself at Orgatec with a wide and diversified parterre of proposals, comprising novelties and bestsellers – this category includes Follow the large collection of mechanical and patented height-adjustable tables, being also presented with a monochrome version (i.e. fully powder-coated for the Desk, Bench, Tilting, Break, Meeting and Meeting Large models), and the space-saving, multifunctional folding Libro tables on castors.

Four new collections - which made their debut at the Salone del Mobile.Milano in April - are the result of four new collaborations that created innovative seating and furnishing accessories.

On occasion of Orgatec, the company is enriching these new entries with models that can further accommodate hybrid work spaces and their constantly evolving needs.

Typo chair, born from the encounter between Mara and AMDL Circle along with architect Michele De Lucchi, has immediately become a contemporary icon, thanks to the distinctive creases of the frame, that results from bending the square section steel tube along its diagonal. The model presented at the Milanese kermesse is now followed by new variants: the upholstered version, named Typo Soft, the wooden and the upholstered stools. Also new to this family a variety of table bases, available with laminate, melamine and metal tops, 100% for outdoor. Finally, the exclusive Typo Limited Edition Arcobaleno, made of Alpi wood designed by Konstantin Grcic.

New to the show is even Elle bookcase, born from the infinite creativity of Ferruccio Laviani. It fits into the environment with an extreme lightness and an architectural appeal; the modular structure allows numerous compositions, while the L-shaped element gives shape to the shelves and creates open and closed forms, such as containers or dividers. At Orgatec, Mara presents for the first time its evolution namely Elle Consolle: a lower module that offers a great versatility and suitability for entrances and walkways.

Then there is Icon the seating family that debuted with such an incredible success, proved by the numerous international awards won, like the selection for the ADI Design Index 2023. A variety of models has been created together with designer Marcello Ziliani – including the latest ones such as: Icon in polypropylene also for outdoor use, Icon High-Back with upholstered backrest and cushion, Icon Cantilever with low and high backrests, stackables and Icon metal, with a four-spoke base powder coated, fixed and on castors.

Completing this scenography is the Foil tables collection by Christophe Pillet comprising the Bench Workstation, equipped with accessories such as drawers, cable trays and acoustic panels, and the Desk with a laminate top and metal frame.

Thus continues Mara's journey towards an all-round design, dedicated to workspace and hospitality, and at the same time able to embrace a more intimate context such as the home. A balance made possible by a minimalist and always elegant design, by smart and functional innovation, and by careful research into the wellbeing of the person and the environment.
