Actiu presented ‘Life-friendly Spaces’ at Orgatec: a new look at the design of regenerative spaces

Actiu, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of furniture, returned to Orgatec with a stand designed by the estudi{H}ac studio to present 'Life-friendly Spaces', a new vision that redefines the future of spaces, aligning functionality, well-being, sustainability, inclusion, diversity, and productivity.

This new brand roadmap identifies values such as technology, digitalisation, and innovation in products and processes to lead the sustainable industry and meet today's competitive challenges. In this sense, they design products aimed at optimising space and comprehensively promoting the well-being of people and the planet. In other words, spaces that improve life.

'Life Friendly Spaces is more than a concept. It is an agenda that will guide every aspect of Actiu's corporate culture. And it involves workers, customers, and suppliers in a common mission: to take care of people and the environment. It is a new strategy to generate new products, reach new sectors, and expand into new markets. Always from our industrial and sustainable base and trying to leave the environment a little better than we found it', says Actiu's CEO and Head of Brand Reputation, Soledat Berbegal.

This agenda for designing the spaces of the future involves a series of internal commitments as manufacturers that affect all areas: inclusion and diversity, well-being and health, design, flexibility, and, of course, sustainability.

The brand's commitment to the circular economy is reflected in its new collections, and which include programs such as the Meetia sofas, designed by Ramón Esteve, the Globb armchairs by Stone Designs and Owwi by Arnau Reyna, the Dorik tables by Odosdesign, the A+S Work operative chair by Alegre Design and the Qyos acoustic cabin, designed by Actiu's in-house research and development (R&D) department.

All these products are part of Actiu's philosophy of creating spaces that focus on the regenerative economy and health, to extend the useful life of its furniture and minimise environmental impact, and promote the decarbonisation of its supply chain and business activities.

Actiu also advocates responsibility in using materials, such as wood from controlled and certified forests, and the integration of recycled and recyclable materials, such as plastics and metals, in practically all its products.

In line with its aim to manufacture responsibly and sustainably, Actiu has recently achieved LEVEL® 2 certification based on the health and sustainability standard - in the 2023 updated version - developed by the European Office Furniture Federation (FEMB), in collaboration with the Certifying Body CERTINALIA (Tecnalia Group). A total of 59 product programs have been certified.

This standard evaluates both the characteristics of the product and those of the organisation and the facilities where the furniture is manufactured.
