molo releases limited edition colours for softwall and softblock

Led by Stephanie Forsythe + Todd MacAllen, molo is a design and production studio based in Vancouver, Canada. Balancing between the realms of art, design and architecture, molo products and projects are grounded in space making and range in scale from tea set to museum.

Limited edition colours for textile softwall + softblock
The way light reflects back and forth between the vertical fins and folds of softwall amplifies colour and transforms a single shade into a dynamic range of hues that change as light moves across the partition's sculptural form. Observing similar effects in nature has inspired designers Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen to create softwall in a series of limited edition colours. These limited-edition colours are also chosen intuitively for their effect on our emotions.

petal pink textile softwall
Like fresh cherry blossoms, petal pink softwall is surprising and joyful. Colour is intensified by reflected light in the space between the pale pink petals of Peonies and Kikuzakura Cherry blossoms, creating a vibrant inner colour. Similarly, each of the 220 layers of a petal pink softwall is very pale (Pantone 12-1305), and the pleated surface of the partition's lattice structure reflects light to create a stunning range of hues from saturated and luminous to a barely-there blush. The uplifting shades of pink add another layer of softness to the acoustics and tactility of softwall, harmonising the flexible concept, function and aesthetic.

Forest green softwall Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds the molo studio + workshop. Each of the 220 layers of softwall is printed a mossy green (Pantone 17-0230). The fins and folds of softwall deepen this one shade and create a range of vibrant hues and deep shadows found in the Pacific Northwest rainforest. As in nature, the structural lines of softwall follow an organic pattern that adapts in response to the surrounding environment.

The folding end panel design of softwall gives stability to the freestanding partitions while creating a sense of infinity and sculptural continuity with a never ending pattern of vertical lines.
