The Danish government aims to facilitate the establishment and expansion of production companies in Denmark through its recent "Red Carpet" initiative, which seeks to reduce bureaucracy and streamline authority approvals. Knud Erik Hansen, CEO of the furniture manufacturer Carl Hansen & Søn, expressed appreciation for this effort but highlighted a critical oversight: financing. This was reported by Wood Supply.

Hansen emphasised that while attracting more industry is beneficial, the role of banks in supporting new and risky ventures is essential. He pointed out that securing capital for expansion or new initiatives is challenging, especially in the current economic climate. His company, which reported a significant loss of 17 million kroner in 2023—its first deficit in 17 years—attributes this setback to external factors and substantial IT investments.
In response to the government's plans, Business Minister Morten Bødskov acknowledged the rapidly changing global landscape, noting that industries in countries like China and the USA are advancing quickly. He underscored the need for Denmark to keep pace, stating that businesses are eager to invest but face hurdles due to complex regulations. Bødskov promised to accelerate processes, support businesses in establishing production more swiftly, and create industrial parks that consolidate necessary resources, all aimed at boosting Denmark's competitiveness, growth, and job creation across the country.
