'Harbour was founded in 1976 by our father, Jim Condos, who established a furniture workshop in Sydney. A master blacksmith by trade, he passed down his skills in metal craftsmanship and furniture construction to us, fostering our deep appreciation for design and architecture,' Nicholas Condos, designer and co-owner of the Australian brand Harbour shares with us. With his brother Harrison he created the company. 'Our father taught us everything we know about the art of metal craftsmanship and furniture construction. Growing up with him, we developed a genuine passion for design and architecture, which inspired us to expand our father's company, Tecno Furniture, into Harbour.'
We talk to Nicholas about their newest collections presented at High Point Market and the reason for their success in the US.

In what markets is the brand most active?
'The US is our largest market, but we have a presence globally in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and of course, Australia. Our Hotel, Contract, and Hospitality Divisions are especially key in expanding Harbour worldwide.'
What has contributed to your success in the American market?
'Harbour's success in the American market stems from our vertically integrated business model. By keeping design and manufacturing in-house, we can focus on what we do best: creating pieces that embody Modern Australian style—a sleek, contemporary coastal aesthetic that emphasises comfort, deep seating, and a low profile.
Harbour places a focus on premium manufacturing, materials, and service. Specifically, the company adheres to the use of high-performance premium fabrics in the construction of all its pieces – sourced from Europe's finest mills – that are fade-and-liquid resistant, easy to clean, and pet-friendly. Harbour's cushions and pillows – which are wrapped with a unique polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibre called Dacron that adds comfort, plushness, and shape – are resilient and durable while not losing out on any amount of comfort. Above all else, Harbour believes in sustainable manufacturing and design. To that end, its products, practices, and principles uphold the ideal of sustainability. Specifically, several of its collections feature grade-A Indonesian plantation teak that speaks to the heart of organic living – the Harbour way of life.'
