IKEA U.S. announced the donation of $500,000 in cash and in-kind donations in emergency funding aimed to support communities significantly impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The funds will be distributed to The American Red Cross, Save the Children and Good360, three nonprofit organisations that are working tirelessly on the ground to restore and rebuild the affected communities.

This emergency initiative allocates $300,000 in cash donations – $100,000 directed each organisation – with an additional $200,000 in in-kind support to Good360. The donation will focus on providing resources necessary for mid-to-long-term recovery efforts.
Within just a few weeks of each other, hurricanes Helene and Milton caused catastrophic flooding, brought 120 mph winds and record-breaking tornadoes to communities across Western Florida and the Blue Ridge Mountain region.
'At IKEA, we believe that to truly feel at home, people need more than just a house; they need a sense of community and belonging,' said Javier Quiñones, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA U.S. 'When disasters strike, the journey to recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. With our partners Red Cross, Save the Children and Good360, we hope to create lasting change and rebuild stronger, more resilient communities.'
IKEA U.S. has partnered with The American Red Cross and Save the Children for over a decade and Good360 since 2022, providing cash and in-kind donations to support various emergency preparedness and disaster recovery efforts.
'The increasing depth of the needs is becoming more and more apparent, especially in North Carolina and Florida. At the same time, generosity from corporate partners like IKEA keeps us all going and provides a beacon of hope for survivors and nonprofits alike,' said Jim Alvey, VP of Disaster Recovery, Good360.
In addition to the relief aid, the safety and well-being of IKEA co-workers is a top priority, and there are several programs available to impacted co-workers including temporary housing, financial assistance and counselling, including WeCare and iCare. Co-workers who are facing financial hardship after a natural disaster or an unforeseen personal hardship can apply for a grant from WeCare.
